Seeing Wild Idaho

Explore Owyhee Canyonlands

The Owyhee Canyonlands of southwest Idaho are an immense expanse of high desert and steep-walled river canyons, stretching across lands described as the sagebrush sea. These lands and rivers provide broad recreation opportunities on our public lands and provide habitat for fish and wildlife such as the sage grouse, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, redband trout and bald eagle.

The Owyhee country includes great wilderness canyons, wide-open sagebrush and juniper-forested highlands. These lands await discovery. These lands also need greater protection, from threats of weeds, damaging off-road-vehicles, overgrazing and wildlife habitat fragmentation.
